The only thing we have to fear is fear itself: Eight Fears

Read a nice article written by the author Chetan Bhagat which appeared in the Times Of India. Here’s the link to it….

I think every woman should read this article, it’s all about being stress free and happy. I think that’s the right way to be, I know some may say it’s easier said than done, true, but it’s worth a try J

Today’s challenge is about fear, every person should try to overcome them and if they can’t it doesn’t matter…so what if I have a fear…no one is perfect and strong…it’s good to be afraid of some things in life…it helps you not take life for granted.

Here goes my list….my eight fears…:

1. Losing my loved one’s and the most important relationships in my life – Yes, I guess this applies to all and it scares me a lot that I wont be able to speak to someone who is very dear to my heart.

2. Darkness – Pitch dark and you got me petrified to death!!!! That would also include loss of sight.

3. Height – It gets me all dizzy……. L

4. I am kind of claustrophobic. Being in closed or very crowded places makes me very uncomfortable….very!

5.  Any natural calamity and the way life gets disrupted…during and after…

6. World without books and creative people….how everything would be so dull and boring L

7. Getting lost in an unknown place with no means of communication…and I think this should also include the fear of losing my cell phone…. J

8. A less green Earth…..Save our Planet people….Plant more tress… J

Done. This did take time. It’s good that I am aware of my fears but I am glad it’s not getting the better of me.

Next are the 7 Wants….just 7??? I am human and aren’t humans the greedier lot…ha ha ha….

Love is in the air: Nine loves

How do we love to be in love or to love someone…..its a wonderful feeling and this doesn’t have to be being in love with a person…it can be simple things as well…anything that makes you happy, makes you smile…feel good about yourself or of your surroundings.

Coming to the challenge listed below are my Nine Loves….

1. Family : Arpita, my niece, I simply adore her, love her. She always brings a smile on my face. My parents and my sister, for making me what I am today.

2. Nature and the ways it never fails to fascinate me. I love watching the sky.

3. Friends – selective few, who have been there when I needed them, when I wanted someone to just hear me out.

4. Sweets - I love sweets especially Gulab Jamun, at a buffet I will first hit the dessert counter and then go for the salads and main course.

5. Books – I can’t imagine not having books in my life. Love reading and now slowly started to love writing as well.

6. Going on a holiday J…yayyyy…I have one planned for next month and just cant wait..!!!!

7. Movies, I watch almost each and every Bollywood movie the very next day of its release or the same day (okay I am exaggerating but I do watch a lot of movies) . I also love watching Hollywood movies as well and I try and catch them as much as I can on TV.

8. Music & Dance – Listening to music and dancing too. I love to dance.

9. Someone secret…..who may very soon not be a secret anymore J

Only Nine…..I have so many more to go….!!!! J
Wow, the list has kept me smiling throughout. J

This was easier than the secrets and now I look forward to the fears…hmmm…will post that as soon as I can….this is fun…I am enjoying it…hope you are too… J

Reveal - Know thyself - Ten Secrets

I think this challenge is a beginner’s lesson for bloggers cause I was just surfing through blogs and every second person had taken up this challenge….well many would have taken It up to get to know themselves and connect…yeah I say “connect” cause in today’s world I know there are numerous ways you connect with friends… family but many have lost the “connection” with themselves…

Well here goes my first challenge….Ten Secrets About Myself…(why do they have the difficult one first) :

1. I am scared of travelling alone to destinations I have never been before, be it a place in Mumbai….and I get totally freaked out if I have to travel to South Mumbai…I think all the roads there are like a maze.

2. I hate people who are selfish, whatever be the reason they have no right to use others but I guess the world is filled with many like these. I also don’t agree when people walk out of a relation/friendship without giving a reason.

3. I love to write…be it my diary…my blog…or small write ups about an event or trip J

4. I do not like to travel in the rains….especially when I am on my way to work.

5. I hate pineapples

6. I am a total romantic. Love reading love stories or watching romantic movies!!! J

7. I have around 3 soft toys hidden in my cupboard and I have named them as well… (No, im not going to reveal their names) J

8. I love watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S………even if they are re-runs and I have seen a particular episode a hundred times I still watch them and I find it as funny as it was when I first watched it.

9. I don’t watch scary movies as I can’t sleep at night after watching one. Silly, but true.

10. I am not a morning person at all. You ask me to stay up all night I can do that…but the mornings ah... kill me!!!

There…done….wow…not that difficult as it seemed to be.

Nine loves…………coming up next J

I had been browsing through....now I'm back!!!

My next post was supposed to be on a travel destination which I had visited last year…..but instead I thought of parking it for a while… I have been through various blogs these past few days and there are so many interesting things people write about. I love the way they express their views and how people enjoy reading them when they can really relate to the same emotions…feelings…experiences…

Some of them write about themselves and some write about books, food…various things….I love reading people’s reviews on books they have read…how each one of them has a different point of view towards the same story.

I have been stocking up books and reading them too, all a light read, not that I enjoy only light reading but at the moment I don’t want to take up something that will keep me thinking for days. Yeah books do that to me….they are my best friends indeed!!! So now my table has done away with the MBA notes and books and it has a stack of The Fountainhead (which I intent to read next month), 2 books of Richard Bach again to be read later….then 2 books of Preeti Shenoy…already read and loved them....Sudha Murthy’s How I taught my grandmother…which I shall read after I finish the 2 books of Anurag Anand…phew….alot of reading to be done…

Once I finish How I taught my grandmother….I have two more books to go of Sudha Murthy, she is a very good writer…her stories are so simple and nice to read.
Hmmm....so there I go talking about books again………. J

There is one interesting challenge called the 10 day challenge that I came across some blogs….and I too would love to take it…..yeah bring it on!!!!

But this has got to be one step at a time………..so we start with the ten secrets….coming up tomorrow J or maybe a few days later cause this will get me thinking…and ten secrets which will never be a secret again once I reveal them….ummmm...this gotta take time...!!!

This is a great exercise, more of a reveal yourself exercise but more of a know yourself challenge…cause this will make you think and you will realize stuff about yourself…which maybe fun J
So even if you don’t want to reveal these details grab a pen and paper and take up the challenge for yourself…know thy self and you shall conquer the world….dont know where that line came from…but made sense…right?

All the best……see ya soon…

Till then…. Adios Amigos… J

Reading...a form of healing...

I heard a nice saying the other day… If God wanted you to look at your past and keep moving he would have given you eyes at the back of your head…but you have them in the front cause it’s the future that he wants you to concentrate on. No one is saying forget your past but don’t make that your basis to live, Keep the memories and move on….Aim for the future!!!

Whatever memories you have of the past, if good remember them and if bad take a lesson from them and try to forget them…..Ctrl+Alt+Delete….. J

All such philosophical talking comes from books….I love them…given a choice between a clothes store and a book store I would happily go hopping into the bookstore….Yes, I know many won’t believe me but I am like that…. J

Anyone looking for a light reading, I would like to recommend a book I read recently, Preeti Shenoy’s 34 Bubblegums and Candies.

A friend of mine was quite stressed with work and personal matters, when I gave him the book to read, he said “ Looks like a girly book”……I just told him to shut up and reminded him of the famous old line ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’….he sent me a text the moment he read the first story saying he liked it….well there are reasons behind it and everyone will have their own reasons….but what the heck there was a smile on his face….0.1% stress released… J

So yes, coming back to the book, don’t go by the cover and the title, if you want a break and want to read some light stories which may make you smile and happy, I recommend you read 34 Bubblegums and Candies. It contains stories from the author’s own life….some everyday incidents which leaves you thinking as deep as you want or just leaves you smiling.

Happy Reading….and Keep Smiling…!!! J

Finally I am here....

Not new to writing but new to blogging....have been coaxed to start one since a long time by a dear friend...(Darshie....here i am and now i expect you to follow all my blogs, that is how and when I be truly dedicated to it)
I know the most I would be writing would be about books..movies and travel....

Movies....the latest I can talk about is Delhi Belly....what an awesome movie...a really good movie after a long time. I really liked the head bang...feet tapping song D K Bose or the other way round as it intended to be :) But it definitely makes some part of your body move....(feet, head, hands or lets say your lips to the lyrics)...
The humor is well placed in the movie...even though people are of the view that there were too many "sugar coated words" in it but whatever happened to the censor board...if they didnt mind it then we too should make a choice and watch it or ditch it.
